Knock, knock! Who's there?

Sometime ago, in a birthday party, one of the guest arrived and told me "Oh, gulat ka noh?" (Oh, you're surprised!) .   Whereas in my part, why would this person thinks that I'm surprised, I've thought why he would think that way and I shouldn't be surprised at all. In a party, event, or gathering, the person is hosting or celebrating it, I believe has the one or full authority of who's going to be on the guest list, simply means "who's invited?". It might be the celebrant, or the organizer would serve as the gatekeeper. Attending someone's birthday, expecting to who should be or should not be there it seems unacceptable or beyond the norm. Society today, endures the notion of struggling "who's gonna be in?!" in a certain event or occasion, whether its a wedding, birthday, friday-night out, reunion, and even there's such a thing as the "VIP" list.
