Like a freshman attitude

1300 today in the afternoon will be the 1st class of my 2nd year life in college. Days, memories, moments flashes back to my mind. It reminds me of my 1st class in college. I was thrilled for the new horde and different kinds of school works. At the same time I was looking forward for the fresh start of myself, wherein my study habits and priorities will be re-constructed. What is the attitude of a freshman student?

A freshman student has the eagerness to be involved in school activities. It is his new environment to live on. Surely, he wants to explore new things and discover cool stuff. His mind-set is still focused about studying and learning the lesson. In high-school he always has been early in the class with his assignments and projects done. A freshman student is in a habit of making the most of his free time well because he was used to it. But now in college there are so many spare times and most of the professors don’t usually take a roll call, it is very diverse from the high school system. It’s not bad about having tons of breaks nor professors don't check the attendance, what matters is that how a baby college student will handle his privileges and freedom.

In contrast to that, during my 1st year in college I saw many ineffective students in the higher batch. They were going to malls, hanging out in the café, doing “conotic-things” in the starbucks, playing in the court, for me I don’t think that they were using their free time wisely; I’m not sure if they first finished their task and paper works. Still, they were some, some of the students I looked up to, who were staying in the library for several hours (un pala natutulog eh noh?? Hehe ), gathering in the study halls (tas un pala puro chismisan eh noH? :D) , having group studies. I can say that they are the most effective students of all time.

I hope and I pray I would be a freshman student in heart and attitude. I don’t want to be led in the dark path where my good study habits will be broken down into pieces. Being freshman student is innocent, innocent to the things seen and unseen in his new surrounding. When an individual becomes 3rd year student that is the era of his life where he distinguishes the good and evil, it is also where he decides to follow.

One should be laid in the right foundations of a college life. The 1st year in school is very crucial. Like a freshman attitude, eager to study, early in class, finishes works, curious in the environment, and using his spare time wisely.

    A person who uses his time wisely would know that all work would only make him ineffective. Just because a person spends his or her spare time at Starbucks or doing whatever else that's not school work, doesn't mean this person does not know how to use his time wisely. Any wise person would know that breaks are essential to being productive, whether or not those breaks would mean an occasional game in the court, or lunch with friends. You are being too judgmental.

    Kobe Bryant started YouTube episodes called "Detail" after he retired from basketball. The channel features different NBA star players and Kobe gives his detailed analysis of every movement of the player. The idea behind the episodes is for the viewers to learn from these players especially the details that they might miss while watching them.      One of the leadership skills that I observe in the people I meet is playfulness. Happy Mother's day

     Wow. Time flew so fast. I vividly imagine during the first Christmas of pandemic era where I was hosting our church Christmas party in Zoom and her beauty stood among the crowd.  I can still recall our moments together when we all wore white and went to Fish Creek and recreated the post. I remember the times where we sang and dance to the beat of Backstreet Boys at Saskatchewan. We also drove all the way to Edmonton to buy some clothes from Uniqlo.       The first precious moment that we've had was when I offered her a free coffee one time and she accepted my treat.
