2 significant lessons from Coach J2

I remember when he was training me in our backyard during my early years in taekwondo he kept telling me "In taekwondo you need to beat up yourself." For me its not just in taekwondo nor in sports, I believe its the same way with us, on how we live our daily life. In work, in school, at home we need to beat up our self. After I've done my 100 kicks he followed up to tell me "See, how cheering helps". On that short scenario I grasp what he meant to beat up myself. It sounds deep and the meaning behind that is really broad. He continued saying "If you beat up yourself you win overself." there are so many opponents and enemies that will come into our life but if there will be a hardest opponent in your that would be you. Actually, its exactly the same with the famous quote from our very own fictional superhero Spiderman "The greatest battle lies within." In the movie there was a time where the evil dominated his whole being and it affects greatly on the way he act, talk and walk.

Twice a week, he passionately train me. One time after the training, I got my guitar and I had a chance to jam with him 88.9. Grabbing the oppurtunity to learn how to use the guitar properly, another wise teaching was revealed to me. "Every time you use the guitar, it draws you closer to learning." No matter what I do with my guitar, even I just pluck it, strum it, even I don't know the chords are or what am I doing with it, there is still a little part of it that will contribute for me to learn. Every little things that we do in life will contribute for big results in future. Like pieces to form the puzzle. That's why every coach tells their team to practice, practice and practice, train, train, and train. No matter how small it is, an individual is learning. There will be never be a part that would be wasted. There will never be a work without a result.

I ponder these 2 lessons in my life, especially in sports. It helps me a lot in the way handle things in school. These are also included in my greatest treasury of wisdom and insights from the people who taught, mentored, played a big role, guided me even a part in my life.
