Encounter
With our family's most recent unique experience I had a glimpse of what kind of ordeal that Job had gone through. It's not the same level of intensity, yet I see some similarities in his epiphany.
People started sharing their counsel and advice as Job's friends did. I observe how mankind tends to truly help others through their presence and giving words. W.H. Bellinger, Jr alludes to his book The Testimony of Poets and Sages that the book of Job is about the limits of human wisdom. His friends' wisdom might be true but it might be narrow-minded in certain situations. They haven't seen the bigger picture. Our perspective as humans would always remain as humans and never reach how God views it.
Only the sovereign God is the source of the absolute wisdom, thus the true wisdom. "God understands the way to it... 'the fear of the Lord, that is wisdom...'" - Job 28:23, 28. The world displays vast places where one can find wisdom from media to friends, magazines, personal experiences, and books. But the ultimate wisdom is manufactured and originated by someone external to ourselves, someone divine and transcendent.
More than why Job experience it, or what he should do, or how to overcome it perhaps the focus is about a fresh encounter with God. “My ears had heard of you, but now my eyes have seen you”. - Job 42:6. Upon delightful reading in the book of Job overall taught me that whatever circumstances that I'm going through I know that God is there. He is sovereign.
