Psalm 9: A Psalm of individual lament

19

**Architecture, see footnote 2

Arise, Lord, do not let mortals triumph;
    let the nations be judged in your presence.
20 Strike them with terror, Lord;
    let the nations know they are only mortal.1 - Psalm 9:19-20

Lord, you are not unaware of what is happening on the other side of the globe

We know that you are still in control and you alone are our God, and you are good.

You are still good.

 It hurts us to see and even to hear about the news of men dying, children, and women being separated from their fathers.

Why do we experience pain? Why do we feel their pain? Why we are saddened, distraught, frustrated, angered?

Do not let them rejoice! They are just men! they are not gods. Don't let them ever think that they are in control of everything and they can manipulate anyone they could wish.

You alone our judge. You are not just a judge of the past or the future, but you are the judge right now.

Punish them! You are the God of justice and the vengeance is all yours. Teach them and may they know and realize that they are only mortal. They are the same human beings and they are not gods.

May all people know that we are all mortal beings.
