How to know God's will for your day?
I wonder if Judas didn't sell Jesus, would he still be crucified? Or perhaps if there were no tensions in the society, where the religious leaders wanted to put Jesus to death, would Jesus still be on the cross? Or everything has been set and predestined? "The Roman government didn't put Jesus on the cross. He went deliberately on his own will."1 Jesus knew the magnitude of the task given to him by the father. "I have brought you glory on earth by finishing the work you gave me to do."2 - John 17:4. He even didn't want to continue his assignment but he still obeyed. The will of God prevails over his life and over creation.
Every day of my life I face decisions on doing the will of God or not. At work, at school, or even when I'm driving I'm tempted not to do God's will. Jesus being fully human asked God, "Father, if you are willing, take this cup from me; yet not my will, but yours be done."3 - Luke 22:42
Doing the will of God may be as major as whom to marry, which career to take, and where to live; or it can also be part of the mundanity of life as doing the extra mile at work, lending a hand to your neighbor, visiting a friend and praying for him. The will of God can only be received by being sensitive to his voice through constant practice of abiding in his word.
