Student loan

    Most if not all people in South East Asia immediately step into college right after high school to pursue a degree in their chosen field of interest. The idea of that paradigm is to start the career they would pursue in the long run. One possible disadvantage is that changes in passion and interest might occur during their study or even in the early years of their profession. On the other hand, the paradigm in North America is different. Since the k-12 educational system had been established and the employment opportunities not requiring a degree, not all high school students immediately proceed to college right after graduation. Some take a year off and some continue to work on their jobs as they go up the ladder.
    Living in the West can have more freedom with one's decisions in life. Earning a minimum wage though not desirable still would meet one's necessity to survive. In choosing their path, the wage is always the one factor compared to the Philippines. I remember during my high school years, the majority of my classmates were thinking about taking nursing, computer science, or accounting. I've never met anyone taking up music, arts, or dancing as the program they want to take in college. I only met those people here in Canada.
    Whether living in the Global North or the Global South one of the key determinants of success is not to worry. "Why should we worry if the point is to glorify the Lord himself through our lives."1 God with his sovereignty put a person in a specific position and at a specific time to embrace the season that God designed for him. It is always for his purposes. “And why do you worry about clothes? See how the flowers of the field grow. They do not labor or spin."2 - Matthew 6:28

    Kobe Bryant started YouTube episodes called "Detail" after he retired from basketball. The channel features different NBA star players and Kobe gives his detailed analysis of every movement of the player. The idea behind the episodes is for the viewers to learn from these players especially the details that they might miss while watching them.      One of the leadership skills that I observe in the people I meet is playfulness. Do not underestimate this magical factor of playfulness in Tagalog, "kakulitan" If there is zero tolerance for you being "makulit" there is a tendency to interpret your sentences or words as "cold". "Makulit" or playfulness factor is tricky, especially in an environment where respect and formality are expected. Happy Mother's day

     Wow. Time flew so fast. I vividly imagine during the first Christmas of pandemic era where I was hosting our church Christmas party in Zoom and her beauty stood among the crowd.  I can still recall our moments together when we all wore white and went to Fish Creek and recreated the post. I remember the times where we sang and dance to the beat of Backstreet Boys at Saskatchewan. We also drove all the way to Edmonton to buy some clothes from Uniqlo.       The first precious moment that we've had was when I offered her a free coffee one time and she accepted my treat. We then took a ride and she didn't expect suddenly we were in front of the Hyundai car dealership at 130th.  I attempted to convince her to come with me and she stood her ground.
