When we were talking about developing unique friendships with the opposite gender, he mentioned "emotional investment" which is not just limited to the person whom you have been praying for. It can also be associated with "the level at which you sow determines the level you will reap"1
The dynamics between the two genders God created reach exponential growth in reaping not just the same level during the initial period of sowing. "Two are better than one, because they have a good return for their labor:"2 - Ecclesiastes 4:9
Spending quality time with one another impacts the foundation of the relationship. It is where both of you learn about each other's tendencies, preferences, personalities, and more importantly values in life. One of the key non-negotiable factors in Christendom is Lordship. Who is the "Lord" of their lives? It doesn't matter which country, upbringing, denomination, or ancestry but the crucial aspect is lordship. With Lordship, sanctification continues in a spirit-led way where both man and woman become in the likeness of Christ.
The investment includes taking a photo and sharing it with someone including but not limited to the meal that you just ate, the mountain that you climbed, a graduation picture, a new car, horizon, sunset, and the list goes on. Developing friendships in the community of faith is normal, developing unique friendships, particularly with the opposite gender is something significant. Before proceeding to the next comfort level ensure that completeness is found in Christ alone or else marriage is doomed for failure.
