Unfailing
The second line of the song starts like this...
'Di mo man ako mahal (You do not even love me) ..."
Perhaps, God is speaking directly to us, his people. We claim that we love Him but our words do not match our acts.
"... ito pa rin ako, Nagmamahal nang tapat sa 'yo (I am still here, loving you truthfully)..."Even though we do not reciprocate God's love for us, he never changes. God is consistent with his love for us. We can not comprehend the nature of his love. The closest possible way to grasp his love is how he demonstrated his love for us.
"But God demonstrates his own love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us."1 - Romans 5:8
"Bakit nga ba mahal kita (Why do I still love you?).... "
God does not wonder why he loves us. His love is not based on feeling, and it is unlimited. This phrase supports the song's theme, the lover's unwavering commitment. To properly interpret these words reading the next line is necessary.
".. Kahit na may mahal ka mang iba (Despite of loving someone/something else)..."
People love someone or something that is superior to God's love. It varies among different individuals.
Reviewing the first verse is rich in theology.
"Kapag ako ay nagmahal
Isa lamang at wala nang iba pa
Iaalay buong buhay
Lumigaya ka lang, lahat ay gagawin
Isa lamang at wala nang iba pa
Iaalay buong buhay
Lumigaya ka lang, lahat ay gagawin
(When I love,
There's only one, and no one else,
I will give my entire life
For the sake of your happiness, everything will be done)"
Commenting on the last two lines, when God loves, he is willing and has already given up everything in the person of his only begotten son. The real joy is found in God alone through the person of Jesus Christ.
