Overseas

** Design, see footnote 3.      My father shared a valuable insight when it comes to decision-making years ago during his small group. Their leader mentioned, " If you are facing a major decision in your life right now that would significantly compromise your time with your family (for example a job opportunity, or promotion) - most often, that is a wrong decision ". In those times, I heard stories where fathers would work overseas to provide for their families and visit them only thrice a year. That's just one example, not only to the fathers but also to the mothers. If the only controlling factor in decision-making is money without considering the possible ethical and immoral repercussions - it is usually not a wise decision for the person.      Money is important. We are called to be good stewards of money. But it is not our ultimate need. Once we surrendered everything unto His Lordship, the way we handle our finances is according to...

Whiteboard

**These are some collections of thoughts and reflections in my notes during the service. Not intended for formal essays, blogs nor academic writing.     Praise the LORD, my soul, and forget not all his benefits —  Psalm 103:2      As human beings, we tend to forget sometimes. Perhaps that's the reason why throughout history, people tried to help their forgetfulness through making notes or buying calendars to remind themselves of the essential things in their day-to-day lives.       In the last century, upon the rise of the fridges, people invented magnetic whiteboards to be placed in their kitchen and write their assignments or reminders. We maximized the capabilities of smartphones through the creation of apps that increase productivity through reminders or calendars. People like to download new apps that would simplify their lives.      This Psalm begins through praising the Lord, lifting his name on ...

Heir

**These are some collections of thoughts and reflections in my notes during the service. Not intended for formal essays, blogs nor academic writing.        Imagine if you are living in the time of Abraham. How about if you are one of the sons of Abraham? It would be amazing for you to be one of the heirs of all his wealth. Being an heir of Abraham not only pertains to material wealth but also spiritual wealth. What if I tell you that you can become one of his heirs?      Everything that God blessed Abraham is also available to us through Christ. God poured out his blessings to Abraham which is enumerated in Deuteronomy 28:1-14. Although we may not be biologically connected to Abraham we are connected to him with the spirit of God through Jesus Christ.       If you belong to Christ, then you are Abraham’s seed, and heirs according to the promise . - Galatians 3:29      There is a prerequisite to thi...

License

**These are some collections of thoughts and reflections in my notes during the service. Not intended for formal essays, blogs nor academic writing.        Some might wonder why in Ephesians 6:4 Paul only addressed fathers on not to exasperate their children or provoke them in anger and why not mothers? Why didn't he include both? Does that mean that only mothers can do it? Or do they have a license of provoking their children? " Fathers, do not exasperate your children; instead, bring them up in the training and instruction of the Lord. " - Ephesians 6:4 (NIV) 1      Reading it today, I know that it refers to parents and doesn't exclude the mothers. Why do Paul mention fathers specifically? During Roman times in their culture, the father has absolute control over his children. He decided their fate. 2  If he wanted to sell them and become slaves it will happen. 2  It was their own choice of accepting their own children or giving them ...
